How it works

One participation costs €1. By default, an available coordinate is assigned automatically in the 1,000 × 1,000 grid. You may choose an available coordinate yourself for an additional €1, making €2 in total. You submit one image, cropped square and converted to 512 × 512 WebP. No user account is created.

Your image

You must have the right to publish the image and permission from identifiable people shown in it. Once approved and published, the image stays linked to its coordinate and cannot be replaced through the site.

Moderation

Every image is reviewed before publication. In particular, we reject nudity or sexual content, shocking violence, content harming children or animals, hate, illegal content, serious privacy violations, clear rights infringements and spam. A rejected image is not published. A different image requires a new participation. Rejection does not create an automatic refund, without affecting rights granted by law.

Publication and removal

An approved image becomes visible in the fresco with its number and coordinates. Your name or nickname is shown only if you choose. An image may be removed when required by law, to protect third-party rights, or to protect the site and its users.

Payment

The base €1 payment exclusively purchases one pixel in the fresco, including automatic coordinate allocation, image processing and moderation. The optional service allowing you to choose an available coordinate costs an additional €1. Neither payment purchases a ticket, a chance to win or paid access to a promotional draw.

Link associated with the pixel

You may choose to associate an http/https web address with your image. Once approved, the title shown at the bottom of the pixel becomes clickable in the detailed view. The link is reviewed together with the image. In particular, illegal, misleading, fraudulent, malicious, hateful, pornographic, rights-infringing or spam-like links are refused. A link that does not comply with the rules is refused. If the image complies with the other rules, it may be published without that link; otherwise the contribution itself may be rejected.

Publication country

The country associated with a publication is selected directly by the user in the main form. It is shown with a flag in the detailed pixel view and used in project statistics. No automatic IP-based country detection is used. The flag is not added to the PDF certificate.

Promotional draws

The base €1 price purchases the pixel and publication service with automatic allocation of an available coordinate. The optional coordinate-selection service costs an additional €1. Neither the base payment nor this option buys a ticket, a chance to win or paid access to the promotional draw.

The draw is a free, optional promotional benefit ancillary to the service. The country selected in the main form determines access to the entry checkbox: it is enabled when the selected country is in the European Union and disabled when it is outside the EU. No second country selection is requested. Entering or not entering the draw adds no cost to the pixel or to the optional coordinate service.

Each person has one chance per draw, identified by email address. An entrant who does not win automatically remains eligible for later promotional tiers while the operation continues and the conditions are met. Only previous winners are permanently excluded from future draws.

Draws are organised into 20 tiers of 50,000 pixels up to 1,000,000. The currently announced tier is 0 to 50,000 pixels and its prize is: Nintendo Switch 2 + 2 Jeux. This tier is drawn only after its upper threshold has been reached.

The winner is randomly selected from all eligible entrants. The certificate animation shown during the draw is only a visual reveal; server-side selection is performed across the full eligible pool and the result is stored with its date and a technical proof.

Draws are filmed and published on Instagram @1millionpixelsproject. Entrants are asked to follow the account to see the draw and winner announcement. Following, liking, commenting or sharing gives no additional chance.

The promotion is not sponsored, administered by or associated with Instagram or Meta. Unless expressly stated otherwise, the manufacturer, brand and any distributors of the announced prize do not sponsor, administer or have any affiliation with ONE MILLION PIXELS PROJECT. The winner may be asked to confirm identity, delivery address and EU residence before the prize is sent.

Our charitable commitment

For all pixels sold, ONE MILLION PIXELS PROJECT donates 33% of profit after expenses to charities.

The million pixels form 20 milestones of 50,000 real sales. Once a milestone is reached, the administrator draws one charity from the 20 listed below. Every remaining charity has an equal chance. A selected charity is permanently excluded from later milestones; a completed draw cannot be repeated.
