It is a participatory fresco made of one million cells. Each participation adds an image to a unique coordinate and helps build a collective artwork that anyone can explore.

Because the fresco uses a 1,000 × 1,000 grid: exactly 1,000,000 unique positions. The idea is to see what a tiny gesture becomes when it is repeated on a very large scale.

The base price remains €1. It includes your pixel and its integration into the fresco with an available coordinate assigned automatically. If you want to choose an available coordinate yourself, that option costs an additional €1, making €2 in total.

For €1, you buy one pixel in the fresco and the related service: automatic allocation of an available coordinate, image processing, moderation and publication when approved. Manually choosing a coordinate is a separate +€1 option.

No. The purchase is for your pixel in the fresco. It is not an investment or a promise of profit. When offered, the promotional draw is a free optional benefit attached to the pixel purchase, not what you are buying.

Yes. You can freely explore the fresco, PIXELISTS, concept, FAQ and rules without making a purchase.

Choose your image, title, year and country, then pay €1. By default, an available coordinate is assigned automatically. If you enable coordinate selection, choose X and then Y from the positions still available and the total becomes €2. Your image then goes to moderation.

Yes. By default, allocation is automatic for €1. You can enable “choose my coordinates” for an additional €1: the site then offers only positions that are still available. Your selected coordinate is temporarily reserved during payment and checked again by the server before final allocation.

No. Once a coordinate is assigned, it is no longer available. Every approved participation therefore has its own unique position.

Yes, each purchase is a separate participation and a separate pixel. For promotional draws, however, multiple purchases by the same person or email do not create multiple chances: one person gets one chance per draw.

No. There is no user account. Your participation number, coordinates and the emails sent by the site are enough to identify your participation.

Yes. You can choose not to display a name or nickname in the public PIXELISTS list. Your approved image, number and coordinates still remain visible.

JPEG, PNG and WebP are accepted. The image must be at least 512 × 512 pixels so it keeps sufficient quality after processing.

It is cropped to a square and converted to 512 × 512 WebP for the fresco. A smaller thumbnail is also used for lists and previews.

Yes. Every image is moderated before it becomes public, so publication is not immediate just after payment.

Examples include sexual content or nudity, very graphic violence, harm involving children or animals, hate, illegal content, serious privacy violations, clear rights infringements or spam.

It is not published in the fresco. A different image requires a new participation. Rejection does not automatically create a refund, without affecting rights granted by law.

No. Once approved and published, the image remains linked to its coordinate. That permanence is part of the fresco concept.

Yes. When submitting your image, you can enable the “Link” option and enter a complete http:// or https:// address. Once approved, the title displayed at the bottom of your pixel becomes clickable in the detailed view. The link is moderated together with the image and will be refused if it does not comply with the site rules. If only the link is a problem but the image complies with the rules, the image may be published without the link.

Search for your participation number or X/Y coordinates. On the PIXELISTS page, clicking an image also launches the animation that flies directly to its pixel.

It keeps a record of your participation, including your number and coordinates. It is generated after image approval and can be viewed or kept.

It is used to manage your participation, send useful information and your certificate, and, if you opt into promotional draws, prevent the same person from receiving multiple chances. It is never displayed publicly.

After approval: your image, number, coordinates and the country you selected, shown with its flag in the detailed pixel view. Your name or nickname is shown only if you do not remain anonymous. The country flag is not added to the PDF certificate. Your email and payment details are never displayed.

No. Card data is handled by the payment provider. ONE MILLION PIXELS PROJECT does not store your full card number.

The grid is complete and no new coordinate is available. The finished fresco remains the outcome of the collective experiment and can continue to be explored.

They are an occasional bonus that accompanies the project’s progress. They are not the product being sold and do not change the pixel price: the site remains first and foremost a social, collective fresco.

No, and this is essential. Your euro exclusively buys your pixel and the services required to publish it. Draw eligibility is a free, optional and ancillary promotional right that may come with that purchase.

No. You must voluntarily tick the box before payment. The country selected earlier in the main form determines whether the box is available: it is enabled for an EU country and disabled for a country outside the EU. No second country selection is required.

People who choose to enter, whose participation is eligible and who selected a European Union country in the main form. If the selected country is outside the EU, the draw checkbox is automatically disabled. Eligibility conditions may be checked before the prize is shipped.

No. One person has one chance per draw, identified in particular by email address. Buying several pixels therefore does not turn the site into a ticket system and does not multiply your chances.

There are 20 tiers of 50,000 pixels, from 0 to 1,000,000. Each tier has its own prize announced on the site and can only be drawn once its upper threshold has been reached.

Reaching the threshold unlocks the draw. The organiser can then run the official draw, which is filmed and whose result is recorded.

The winner is randomly selected server-side from the full eligible pool. The fast certificate animation is only a filmable way to reveal the result; it does not choose the winner.

You automatically remain eligible for later tiers while the promotion continues and you still meet the conditions. You do not need to buy another pixel just to stay in future draws.

A winner is excluded from later promotional draws so the same person cannot win several tiers. The winner may be contacted to confirm identity, delivery address and EU residence.

Draws are filmed and published on @1millionpixelsproject so everyone can see the process and winner announcement. Entrants are asked to follow the account so they do not miss the result, but following, liking, commenting or sharing gives no additional chance.

No. Every tier can have a different prize. The current prize is announced on the site, in the promotional pop-up and in Legal & rules. A prize that has not yet been announced is not a promise.
